MANAGING SEASONS

Introduction

Life is designed by God to go through different seasons.

  • Our lives are structured to experience various seasons.
  • Each season requires a different approach.
  • Seasons can be grouped into two main categories:
    1. Good seasons
    2. Bad seasons

Understanding this helps us respond correctly to whatever phase of life we are in.

Understanding Seasons

Before learning how to manage seasons, it is important to know two key truths:

1. Seasons are not permanent

(1 Peter 1:24)
Every seasonโ€”whether good or badโ€”will eventually pass.

2. Seasons have a purpose

(Romans 8:28)
God allows every season for a reason, and all things work together for good.

Essential Tools for Managing Seasons

To successfully navigate lifeโ€™s seasons, two things are necessary:

1. Wisdom (James 1:5)

  • Wisdom helps us respond correctly in every season.
  • It covers us in difficult times and prepares us for times of need.

2. Grace (Philippians 4:11โ€“13)

  • Grace carries us through tough seasons.
  • It also sustains us during favorable seasons.

How to Handle Different Seasons

A. Managing Bad Seasons

When difficult times come, we should:

  1. Pray (James 5:13)
  2. Keep hope alive
  3. Hold our peace
  4. Put our trust in God
  5. Focus on the love of God

These responses help us remain strong and anchored in God during hardship.

B. Managing Good Seasons

Good seasons must also be handled wisely. We can do this through the following:

1. Praise and Magnify God

(James 5:13; Psalm 105:1โ€“2; Deuteronomy 8:10)

  • Giving all glory and credit to God for our blessings.

2. Practice Discipline

(1 Corinthians 10:12)

Areas to focus on:

  • Spending wisely (John 6:12)
  • *Managing relationships carefully
  • Whatever you do not manage will manage you.
  • Whatever you do not control will control you.
  • Whatever you do not master will enslave you.

3. Remember Where You Came From

(Deuteronomy 8:11โ€“19)

  • Never forget Godโ€™s faithfulness in past seasons.

4. Remain Humble

(1 Peter 5:5; Proverbs 11:12)

  • Stay humble even in success.

5. Keep Seeking God

(Psalm 105:4; Matthew 5:6)

  • Continue pursuing God even when things are going well.

6. Stay Consistent

(Galatians 6:9)

  • Consistency in good seasons builds strength for harder ones.

7. Prepare for the Future

(Proverbs 6:6โ€“8; Proverbs 21:20)

  • Use times of abundance to prepare for times of need.

Conclusion

Seasons are a natural part of life, and each one carries purpose.

  • Bad seasons build strength and dependence on God.
  • Good seasons require discipline and gratitude.

Therefore, learn to manage every season wellโ€”because how you handle one season determines how you enter the next.
