OUR HISTORY

THE HISTORY OF PEFA CHURCH FINANCE

PEFA Church Finance traces its origins to 8th February 2009, when Rev. John Ng’ethe and his wife, Grace Ng’ethe, were commissioned by Bishop James Wesonga to establish a new church in Mwihoko. Having faithfully served as an elder at PEFA Kimbo Church under various pastors, Rev. Ng’ethe answered the call with dedication and obedience.

Immediately after commissioning, Rev. Ng’ethe, together with a few committed members, moved to Mwihoko in search of a place of worship. They began humbly by renting a small 8 × 10 ft room at Mwihoko Finance, which became the first sanctuary of the church.

As the congregation steadily grew, the initial space became insufficient. In response, Rev. Ng’ethe secured a larger premise where the church rented both a room and the surrounding compound. However, continued growth soon outpaced this space as well, leading to the construction of a temporary structure behind the main room. This structure later became the primary worship area, while the original room was repurposed for Sunday school ministry.

The church’s growth was supported by a strong and committed leadership team. Rev. Ng’ethe worked alongside fellow ministers, including Rev. Peter Irungu and Pastor Simon Karemeri. He was also supported by a dedicated group of elders: Francis Kaguru, Joseph Kanyua, Samuel Kimani, Ben Rodgers Ngave, and Simon Ngure.

Under Rev. Ng’ethe’s leadership, the church experienced remarkable growth, expanding from a small fellowship of only 8 members to a vibrant congregation of approximately 300 members, along with about 120 children in the Sunday school.

Today Pefa Church Finance is under the Leadership of our Senior Pastor Reverend Peter Irungu with the help of Pastor Stephen Mwaniki and Pastor Samson Namasaka.
