Introduction
The Christian life is not just about believing in Christ—it is about allowing Him to live and rule in us. “Letting Christ be” means giving Him full authority over our lives.
What Does It Mean to Let Christ Be in Our Lives?
- It means allowing His presence, teachings, and love to guide our thoughts, actions, and decisions.
- It involves a personal relationship with Him, not just belief in His existence.
- It is the act of giving Christ full control over our lives.
- It is a deliberate decision that each believer must make.
How to Let Christ Be in Our Lives
1. By Surrendering to Christ
(Luke 9:23–24)
- Surrender means denying self and following Christ.
- It is allowing God to have His way in our lives.
(Luke 22:42)
- Jesus surrendered to the Father’s will in the Garden of Gethsemane, even in suffering.
(Proverbs 16:9)
- We may make plans, but God directs our steps.
(Isaiah 55:8–9)
- God’s ways are higher than our ways.
(Psalm 143:10)
- A surrendered heart seeks God’s guidance.
(John 6:38)
- Jesus lived in complete obedience to the Father—our perfect example.
Surrender is not weakness—it is faith and strength.
It is trusting that God’s way is better, His wisdom is greater, and His timing is perfect.
2. By Submitting to Christ
- Submission means yielding daily to His authority.
- It involves obedience in both small and great matters of life.
3. By Giving Him Space
(Exodus 14:14)
- Giving God space means stepping back and allowing Him to work.
- It requires trusting Him instead of trying to control everything ourselves.
4. By Letting Him Shine
(John 3:30)
- “He must increase, but I must decrease.”
- Our lives should reflect Christ, not ourselves.
Conclusion
Letting Christ be in our lives comes with a cost:
- We must deny ourselves
- We must surrender our will
- We must trust Him completely
However, the reward is a life led by God Himself.
Therefore, choose daily to let Christ be—because when He takes control, life finds its true meaning and direction.
